Resolve
to think positively, smile and laugh
Thinking
positively means that you will gain more from life. Benefits include
improved self-esteem, better mental and physical health as well
as enriched relationships.
Thinking
positively means being able to laugh at ourselves. Smiling, laughing
and developing a sense of humour go hand in hand with the idea of
'positiveness'. There is much to be said for this approach. Smiling,
even when you may be feeling low, encourages and promotes communication
and support from others. "Smile and the whole world smiles
with you, cry and you cry alone." Laughing too can be infectious
and provides the release of health-enhancing chemicals in the brain
and body.
There is another important reason for thinking positively; it reinforces
activity in the brain that can lift low mood. The more you think
positively, the more you can deal with adversity and stress. Thinking
positively also means, for example, being able to acknowledge the
occurrence of an adverse event. Not every cloud has a silver lining,
however, something can be learned from every situation - that's
being positive.
