Reappraise
your demands; become a good time-manager and Reduce clutter
Our
fast-paced and complex society can easily foster a sense of time urgency
and impatience at work and at home. There often seems so much to do
and too little time in which to do it. Learning to manage your time
effectively will reduce stress. Balancing your time allocation between
family, friends, leisure, exercise, work relaxation and sleep is your
number one priority for this 'R'. Remember, ‘It is not the hours
you put in that counts but it is what you put into the hours’.
Cluttering our lives up with unwanted items makes it very difficult
to manage ourselves effectively. Many simple activities can become
major tasks. Clearing our lives of clutter means that it’s easier
to know where everything is. We can clear our minds, think more clearly
and time-manage ourselves more effectively to deal with daily demands
and pressures, whilst at the same time getting the time-balance right
between family, work, leisure and time for ourselves.
We
also need to keep an eye on the type and number of demands we have
to deal with. Some tasks will be unavoidable and must be dealt with.
Others we may have a choice over whether or not we need to take them
on. One thing is certain; too many changes and demands in a relatively
short period can over tax our ability to adapt and deal with them,
resulting in distress and possibly ill health, poor performance and
difficulties in our relationships.
