Relax
and take breaks
Our
relaxation response produces the opposite bodily state to that produced
by our stress response (arousal); so that the balance of time spent
relaxing against the time when you are aroused means less time for
our body to be subjected to the ill-effects of stress (both distress
as well as eustress). Also making sure that you get plenty of sleep
and rest so as to ‘recharge your batteries’, will ensure
that you deal effectively with pressures and demands.
Learning
an active relaxation technique such as meditation and progressive
muscular relaxation will provide you with the ability to reach
a state of deep relaxation. Furthermore, practiced daily, these
techniques may put you in the frame of mind to think about and
reconsider your life and lifestyle...... 'What is important to
you?', ' What are your priorities?', 'Why race the clock?'
